Martin Walker - Bruno, Chief of Police

Easy to read, gentle tales centred around the life of a rural policeman in the Dordogne. Bruno is a the local policeman, an integral part of his community, the fictional town of St Denis. He solves crimes and keeps the peace with a mixture of diplomacy, local knowledge, his powerful local network and connections high up in the French security services.
Bruno fits his job around his many hobbies - training the youth rugby and tennis teams, horse riding, gardening and cooking for his many friends.
Suspend your disbelief about how many international terrorists and organised criminals manage to focus on a small rural town in the Dordogne, and enjoy the descriptions of the gorgeous scenery, the scrumptious meals made with local produce, Bruno's complicated romantic life and a cast of (somewhat stereo-typed) local characters.
